Cooled Deep-Sky Cameras

A cooled deep-sky camera uses a thermoelectric cooler to hold its sensor well below ambient temperature, cutting the thermal noise that builds up in the multi-minute exposures needed for nebulae, galaxies and star clusters. Match the sensor to your telescope's image circle and focal length: full-frame models such as the ZWO ASI6200, QHY600PH, ToupTek SkyEye62 and Player One Zeus 455 suit large astrographs, APS-C cameras like the ASI2600, QHY268, ToupTek ATR2600 and Player One Poseidon cover most refractors, and 1" IMX533 cameras such as the ASI533 Pro, Ares Pro and SVBONY SV605 suit smaller telescopes — then choose between one-shot colour and mono with filters. For a mono camera, add a filter wheel and LRGB or narrowband filters.
