Dedicated Solar Telescopes

A dedicated solar telescope has a hydrogen-alpha filter system built into the instrument, showing prominences, filaments and surface detail in the Sun's chromosphere that a white-light filter cannot. The Sky-Watcher Heliostar 76 and 100 are offered as tubes or as kits with the SolarQuest and Wave 100i mounts, while the Daystar Solar Scout 80 comes in Chromosphere and Prominence versions and the Solar Scout 60 Double Stack narrows the bandpass for higher surface contrast. For white-light filters and other solar gear, see Solar Viewing & Imaging.
