Celestron's EdgeHD promotion runs September 1 to 30, 2026. Every telescope in this collection is reduced for the month — optical tubes on their own and complete systems already paired to a mount. Prices return to normal on October 1.
EdgeHD is Celestron's aplanatic Schmidt-Cassegrain design. A standard SCT is sharp in the middle and soft at the edges, where stars stretch into comet shapes and the field curves away from the sensor plane. EdgeHD adds corrective optics inside the baffle tube to flatten that field, so stars stay round from corner to corner. Visually it means a clean field edge to edge. For imaging it means you can use the whole chip rather than cropping to the sharp centre.
The sale covers four optical tube assemblies — EdgeHD 8″, 9.25″, 11″ and 14″, all on the CGE-style dovetail — and complete telescope systems on the Advanced VX, CGEM II, CGX and CGX-L mounts. If you already own a capable mount, the OTA on its own is the cheaper route into the design. If you are starting fresh, the packaged systems arrive matched and ready to align.
Worth knowing before you order: these are long focal length instruments, f/10 native and f/7 with the optional 0.7× reducer. That is a narrow field of view and a real demand on tracking, so they reward a solid mount and steady seeing more than a short refractor does. The larger tubes are also heavier than they photograph — if you are buying an OTA alone, check your mount's payload capacity first.
