Product Overview

The DMMADAPT is a 7-inch adapter plate that mates to any of Losmandy's DUP dovetail plates to create a male-to-male dovetail. Bolted to a plate you already own, it turns a plate with a flat underside into one with a dovetail on both faces.

Who It's For

This is the economical route to a male-to-male dovetail if there is already a DUP plate in the accessory box. Rather than buying a dedicated DMM bar, this piece bolts to the DUP and produces the same arrangement — useful for side-by-side work, or for mounting something that came with a saddle instead of a plate.

Key Features & Design

  • 7-inch adapter plate that creates a male-to-male dovetail.
  • Mates to any Losmandy DUP dovetail plate.
  • Machined aluminium, to the D-series profile.

Recommended Uses

Converting a DUP plate you already own into a male-to-male dovetail. Side-by-side builds where one face needs to clamp into a second saddle. Mounting secondary equipment that arrived with a saddle rather than a plate.

Compatibility and Accessory Notes

  • Plates: any Losmandy DUP plate — the 14", 19" or 24".
  • Ready-made alternative: the DMM7 and DMM14 are single-piece male-to-male bars, if you would rather not stack two parts.
  • Saddles: the resulting dovetail clamps into any Losmandy D-series saddle, including both saddles on the DVSBS and the AZ8.

Good to Know Before You Order

  • It needs a DUP plate to work. On its own it is half of an assembly — if you do not own a DUP, a one-piece DMM bar is the simpler purchase.
  • Losmandy publishes no weight for this part. It is a small piece; our listed shipping weight is our own figure rather than a Losmandy specification.
  • A stacked assembly is slightly taller than a one-piece male-to-male bar, which shifts the balance point of whatever sits on top.
  • Specifications are Losmandy's published figures.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it difficult to set up?

No. It bolts to the DUP plate, and the assembly then clamps into a saddle at either face.

What does it actually do?

It gives a DUP plate a second dovetail face, so the plate can clamp into a saddle on both sides instead of bolting to rings on one.

Which plates does it fit?

Losmandy states any of the DUP dovetail plates.

Why not just buy a DMM bar?

If you do not already own a DUP plate, that is usually the better answer. This part exists for people who do.

Can I use it for side-by-side mounting?

Yes — that is one of the common reasons to need a male-to-male dovetail.

Bottom Line

In short: a 7-inch adapter that bolts to any Losmandy DUP plate and turns it into a male-to-male dovetail — the cheaper route when the DUP is already yours.
