Product Overview

This is Takahashi's FS-60 Dew Shield Extension in silver, part TKA06220 — additional shielding that lengthens the dew shield on the FS-60 series (FS-60C, FS-60CB, FS-60Q). It has nothing to do with the optical train; it clips onto the objective end of the tube and simply gives the front element more distance from open sky.

On a short refractor like the FS-60, the stock dew shield is compact, and dew and stray light both have an easier path to the objective than on a longer tube. This extension is a straightforward answer to that.

Who It's For

This is a good match if you own an FS-60 series refractor and want extra protection against dew forming on the objective, or against stray light entering from the side at low altitude.

Key Features & Design

  • Silver finish: matches the factory finish of the FS-60 series tube.
  • Extends the existing dew shield: adds length ahead of the objective rather than replacing the shield.
  • Stray-light control: the added length also cuts down light entering from low angles, alongside its dew function.

Recommended Uses

  • Extended imaging or observing sessions in humid conditions, where dew on the objective is the limiting factor.
  • Sites with light domes near the horizon, where the added shielding keeps stray light off the objective.

Compatibility and Accessory Notes

  • Built for the FS-60 series — FS-60C, FS-60CB and FS-60Q.
  • Attaches to the existing dew shield rather than replacing it.

Good to Know Before You Order

  • It's a physical extension, not a heated dew strap. It works passively, by distance, rather than by warming the objective — and can be run alongside a heated strap if you already use one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it difficult to set up?

No — it fits onto the existing dew shield with no tools or adjustment needed.

Does it affect anything downstream in my imaging setup?

No. It sits ahead of the objective, entirely outside the optical train.

Which telescopes does it fit?

The FS-60 series — FS-60C, FS-60CB and FS-60Q.

Does it replace a heated dew strap?

No — it's a passive extension. A heated dew strap works differently and can still be used alongside it.

Bottom Line

In short: a silver dew shield extension for the FS-60 series, adding passive protection against dew and low-angle stray light ahead of the objective.
