Product Overview
This is the FC-76DC objective unit — the lens cell and its housing, not a complete optical tube. It was designed to expand what an FS-60CB or FS-60Q can do: the focuser unit from either of those telescopes attaches directly to this objective, so an owner moves up to a 76 mm objective using parts they already have, at a fraction of the cost of a complete FC-76DC tube assembly.
Who It's For
This is a good match if you own an FS-60CB or FS-60Q and want more aperture without buying a second complete telescope.
Key Features & Design
- FC-76DC objective: the same objective unit used in the FC-76DC optical tube.
- Uses your existing focuser: the FS-60CB and FS-60Q focuser unit attaches to it directly.
- An upgrade path, not a second telescope: substantially less than a complete FC-76DC tube.
Optical / Mechanical Design
Takahashi's small refractors are built in modules — objective unit at one end, focuser unit at the other — and this product exists because those modules interchange. Going from the FS-60's 60 mm objective to a 76 mm one is a meaningful step: aperture area increases by roughly 60%, which shows up directly as brightness and resolving ability. The focuser, diagonal, eyepieces and camera adapters carry over unchanged, so the cost of the upgrade is the objective alone.
Recommended Uses
Upgrading an existing FS-60CB or FS-60Q for visual observing and imaging at a larger aperture, while keeping the rest of the setup intact.
Compatibility and Accessory Notes
Designed for the FS-60CB and FS-60Q focuser units. Takahashi does not publish the resulting focal length, focal ratio or assembled dimensions for this combination on the listing, and we would rather not print figures we cannot source from them. Send us your telescope and what you intend to put behind it and we will get you the assembled specifications before you order.
Good to Know Before You Order
This is a component, not a telescope: it is the objective unit only. It works by attaching to the focuser unit from an FS-60CB or FS-60Q, so it is only useful if you own one of those.
Assembled specifications are not published here: the resulting focal length and ratio are the figures you would want before ordering, and we will obtain them for you.
Not the same as a complete FC-76DC: the optics are the FC-76DC's; the tube and focuser come from your existing telescope.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it difficult to set up?
The focuser unit from your FS-60CB or FS-60Q attaches to it directly — Takahashi designed these parts to come apart and go back together. If you would like to be walked through it, ask us.
What do I need to already own?
An FS-60CB or FS-60Q, whose focuser unit this objective attaches to.
Is this a complete telescope?
No — it is the objective unit. The focuser comes from your existing telescope.
Why buy this instead of a full FC-76DC?
Cost. You are buying the objective rather than a second complete tube assembly, and reusing the focuser you already own.
Bottom Line
The FC-76DC objective unit — the route from a 60 mm FS-60CB or FS-60Q to a 76 mm objective, reusing the focuser you already have.
