The Takahashi Camera Angle Adjuster (CAA) is a mechanical camera rotator that sits between the focuser drawtube of an FS-78, FS-60C, FC-60E or Sky 90 II and the camera behind it. It turns to put the framing where you want it, then locks so the angle holds through a run of exposures.

There are no optics inside it. It is a rotating mechanical coupling, and it takes Takahashi wide-mount T-rings on the camera side.

Not the same part as the CAA-S. Takahashi also makes the Camera Angle Adjuster CAA-S (TKA21200N), which is a different part with its own fitting. The two are close in name and one digit apart in reference number, so it is worth checking which one your telescope and imaging train call for — send us your setup and we will confirm which of the two fits.

Good to Know Before You Order

Mechanical adapter only: there are no optics and no electronic communication with the camera. It changes the angle of the camera and nothing else about the image.

A T-ring is needed as well: the CAA presents the Takahashi wide-mount interface, and the T-ring that matches your camera body is bought separately. We stock Takahashi's wide-mount rings and can pair the right one to your camera.

Takahashi does not publish dimensional figures for this part: no thread specification, optical length or weight appears in their own material for TKA21200. If you are working out a backfocus total, send us the rest of your train and we will measure the part and work the numbers through with you.

Is it difficult to set up?

No. It threads into the imaging train once, and after that setting the angle is a matter of loosening the lock, turning the camera to the framing you want, and tightening it again.
