SVBONY SV190 10mm ultra flat field eyepiece key visual

Product Overview

The SVBONY SV190 10 mm is a 1.25″ ultra flat field eyepiece with a 60° apparent field of view. Its 5-element, 4-group fully multi-coated design flattens field curvature toward the edge, so stars stay sharp across more of the view than in a simple Plössl. Eye relief is 16 mm, the field stop is 14.7 mm, and the barrel carries a standard M28.5×0.6 filter thread. It weighs 84 g.

Who It's For

This is a good match if you want a medium-high power eyepiece for the Moon, planets, double stars and smaller deep-sky objects, with a flatter field and more eye relief than a 10 mm Plössl, including if you observe with glasses.

Key Features & Design

  • Ultra flat field: designed to reduce edge curvature and distortion.
  • 60° apparent field at 10 mm focal length.
  • 16 mm eye relief with a rubber eyecup.
  • 5 elements in 4 groups, fully multi-coated, with oversized lenses and blackened lens edges.
  • Aluminium body with a filter-threaded 1.25″ barrel.

Optical Design

The five-element layout uses oversized lenses and a field-flattening group so that the image stays in focus closer to the field stop. With a 14.7 mm field stop and 60° apparent field, the true field in your telescope is the 60° divided by the magnification (telescope focal length ÷ 10 mm). Broadband multi-coatings on all air-glass surfaces keep transmission and contrast up on bright targets.

Recommended Uses

  • Lunar and planetary observing at medium-high magnification.
  • Double stars and globular clusters.
  • Small deep-sky objects such as planetary nebulae.

Is it difficult to set up?

No. It drops into any 1.25″ focuser or diagonal and is held by the thumbscrew.

What is the apparent field?

60°.

Can I use filters with it?

Yes. The barrel takes standard M28.5×0.6 1.25″ filters.

Can I use it with glasses?

SVBONY describes the eye relief as suitable for eyeglass wearers; the published figure is 16 mm.

Bottom Line

In short: a 10 mm, 60° flat field 1.25″ eyepiece with 5-element FMC optics and 16 mm eye relief, for sharp medium-high power views of the Moon, planets and compact deep-sky objects.
