SVBONY F9132A 12.5mm illuminated reticle eyepiece overview

Product Overview

The SVBONY F9132A is a 1.25″, 12.5 mm Plössl eyepiece with an illuminated double-crosshair reticle. A red LED lights the reticle, with stepless brightness control powered by three 1.5 V alkaline batteries, so the crosshairs stay visible against a dark sky without overwhelming faint stars. The four-element, fully multi-coated Plössl gives a 40° apparent field with 11 mm of eye relief. The aluminium body has a matte finish, measures 70 x 60 x 60 mm, and weighs 170 g.

Who It's For

This is a good match if you need an accurate centring reference in the eyepiece: aligning a go-to mount on its alignment stars, centring a guide star, or checking polar alignment and tracking for astrophotography.

Key Features & Design

  • Red LED double-crosshair reticle: a precise centre reference that stays readable at night.
  • Stepless brightness: set the reticle just bright enough to see against the star.
  • 12.5 mm focal length, 40° field: moderate power for accurate centring.
  • 11 mm eye relief: comfortable for longer alignment sessions.
  • Fully multi-coated optics with blackened edges and inner walls: for bright, high-contrast star images.
  • Three 1.5 V alkaline batteries: power the illuminator.

Optical Design

The F9132A uses a four-element Plössl design with the reticle placed at the eyepiece's focal plane, so the crosshairs and the star come to focus together. The magnification it gives is your telescope's focal length divided by 12.5: 80x on a 1000 mm telescope, 40x on a 500 mm one. That is enough power to centre a star accurately while keeping a 40° field around it.

Recommended Uses

  • Go-to alignment: centring alignment stars precisely for better pointing accuracy.
  • Polar alignment checks and drift alignment.
  • Guide-star centring: for manual guiding or confirming a star is centred.

Compatibility and Accessory Notes

  • Barrel: 1.25″, for any 1.25″ focuser or diagonal.
  • Power: three 1.5 V alkaline batteries.
  • Style: this listing is the eyepiece alone. SVBONY also offers it with a UV/IR filter; get in touch if you want that combination.

Good to Know Before You Order

  • Moderate field: at 40° apparent field it is a centring and alignment tool rather than a wide-field viewing eyepiece.
  • Batteries: three 1.5 V alkaline cells power the illuminator.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it difficult to set up?

No. Insert it like any 1.25″ eyepiece, switch on the illuminator and turn the brightness up until the crosshairs are just visible against the star.

What magnification will it give?

Your telescope's focal length divided by 12.5. On a 1000 mm telescope that is 80x.

Why a double crosshair?

The two parallel lines frame the star, which makes it easier to judge when it is exactly centred than a single line would.

Bottom Line

In short: a 12.5 mm, 40° 1.25″ Plössl with a stepless red double-crosshair reticle, for accurate star centring during alignment and guiding.
