The Player One All-Sky 2.5mm Lens Kit is a ready-to-run bundle for turning a 1/2″-format planetary camera into an all-sky monitor. It pairs the 2.5 mm CS-mount lens — which gives a 170° field on a 1/2″ sensor — with an adjustable mini tripod to aim and steady the camera. Player One matches it to their 1/2″-format cameras, the Neptune series in particular. The camera itself is not included.

Optical Design

The all-sky field is a product of focal length and sensor size: 2.5 mm projected onto a 1/2″ sensor spans roughly 170°. The CS mount is the standard machine-vision lens interface used by compact astronomy cameras, so the lens seats at the correct back-focus on a CS-mount body without an adapter. The mini tripod holds the camera pointed at the zenith so the circular all-sky image sits centered in the frame.

All-sky monitoring — cloud cover, meteors, satellite passes, aurora — with a 1/2″ Player One planetary camera, on a desk, windowsill, or fixed outdoor spot.

Compatibility and Accessory Notes

The lens uses a CS mount and is matched to 1/2″-format sensors such as the Neptune series. On a larger sensor the 170° figure no longer applies. The kit provides the lens and the mini tripod; the camera is separate. If you are unsure which lens matches your camera, send us the model and we will confirm it with you.

Good to Know Before You Order

  • Camera not included: the kit is the 2.5 mm lens and the adjustable mini tripod; you supply a 1/2″ planetary camera (Neptune series).
  • 1/2″ format: the 170° field is specified for a 1/2″ sensor; a smaller sensor changes the coverage. The 2.1mm kit is the matched option for the 1/3″ Mars series.
  • CS mount: the lens needs a CS-mount camera; a C-mount body requires a 5 mm CS-to-C spacer.
