Product Overview
This is the black-anodised aluminium L bracket that carries a Pegasus Astro stepper motor alongside a telescope focuser. It is the same universal bracket supplied with the Motor Focus Kit v2, sold on its own — for adding a second installation, fitting a motor to another telescope, or replacing a bracket that has been bent or lost.
The L shape is designed to suit most focusers, and the lower section can be swapped for a slimmer rail where a Newtonian or low-profile focuser leaves less room.
Who It's For
This is a good match if you:
- Own a Pegasus stepper focus motor and want to move it between telescopes, leaving a bracket on each.
- Are fitting a motor to a Newtonian or a low-profile focuser, where the slimmer rail option matters.
- Need a replacement after a transport knock or a bracket that has gone missing between sessions.
- Run more than one telescope and would rather buy a bracket than a second motor.
Key Features & Design
- Black anodised aluminium: matte finish, no reflective surface next to the focuser.
- Redesigned L shape: shaped to fit most focusers rather than one model.
- Rigid by design: Pegasus Astro describes it as hard to bend, with cut rails — a bracket that flexes lets the motor shift relative to the focuser shaft, which shows up as lost steps.
- Replaceable lower section: the lower part can be exchanged for a slimmer rail for Newtonian and low-profile focusers.
Recommended Uses
- Mounting a Pegasus stepper focus motor to a refractor, Newtonian or low-profile focuser.
- Leaving a bracket on each telescope so one motor can serve several scopes.
- Replacing a damaged or missing bracket from a Motor Focus Kit.
Compatibility and Accessory Notes
- For Pegasus Astro stepper focus motors — the bracket supplied with the Motor Focus Kit v2, sold separately.
- Bracket only. Motor couplers, screws and washers come with the motor kit; this is the bracket itself.
- SCT installations use a different bracket. The Celestron SCT focus motors mount on an aperture-specific SCT bracket with a pulley and belt, which we stock as separate kits.
- Not sure it will clear your focuser? Send us your focuser model and we will look at the fit with you before you order.
Good to Know Before You Order
- This is the bracket alone. It has no motor, no coupler and no electronics — it is the mounting hardware for a motor you already have or are buying separately.
- The slimmer lower rail is a separate part. The bracket accepts it, but it does not ship in place of the standard lower section.
- Pegasus Astro publishes no weight or dimensions for the bracket on its own. The 350 g figure on the Motor Focus Kit v2 page covers the motor, bracket and coupler together, so it does not transfer to this part — we have left the weight row out rather than derive one. That is why the listing is not yet available to order.
- Want it sooner? Get in touch and we will weigh one off the shelf and get the listing live for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it difficult to set up?
No. The bracket bolts to the focuser body and the motor bolts to the bracket, with the coupler joining the motor shaft to the focus knob. The universal shape means most focusers take it without modification.
Does it come with the motor?
No. This is the bracket only.
Will it work on a Newtonian?
Yes — that is what the replaceable slimmer lower rail is for, since low-profile focusers leave less clearance.
Can I use it on a Celestron SCT?
No. SCT focus motors use an aperture-specific bracket with a pulley and belt instead. We stock those kits.
Does it come with screws?
The screws, washers and couplers ship with the Motor Focus Kit. Tell us what you already have and we will make sure you are not missing anything.
Bottom Line
In short: the black-anodised universal L bracket that holds a Pegasus stepper motor at the focuser, with a slimmer rail option for Newtonians and low-profile focusers. Buy one per telescope and move the motor between them.
