This is the Pegasus Astro half pier assembly that raises an NYX-88 by 18 cm (7 inches) on the Pegasus carbon fibre tripod. It sits between the tripod head and the mount, on aluminium standoffs — three as a minimum, up to six where you want the extra rigidity.
The reason to fit one is meridian clearance: a long telescope on a harmonic mount will find the tripod legs as it approaches the meridian, and 18 cm of extra height is usually what solves it.

- Pegasus Astro publishes no weight or material specification for this assembly beyond the 18 cm height and the standoff arrangement. Those rows are left out rather than filled with figures we cannot source, and it is why the listing is not yet available to order.

Is it difficult to set up?
No. The standoffs bolt between the tripod head and the mount base. It is a one-time assembly and then it stays put.
Why would I need it?
Meridian clearance, mostly. A long telescope on a mount this compact swings close to the tripod legs, and 18 cm of lift is the usual fix.
Three standoffs or six?
Three is the minimum and works. Six is stiffer and is the sensible choice with a heavier imaging train.
Will it fit an EQ6 steel tripod?
No — that takes the EQ6 version, which is a separate part we stock.
Does it defeat the point of a light carbon tripod?
Not really — it is a short aluminium standoff assembly, and it buys clearance that would otherwise cost you a much larger tripod.
