- Half-pier extensions fit it. The 18 cm half pier for the Pegasus carbon tripod raises the mount for longer telescopes that would otherwise strike the legs near the meridian — we stock it.
- Rubber footpads are available separately for concrete, tiles and other hard surfaces, where spikes have nothing to bite into.

Good to Know Before You Order
- The leg angle is fixed at 35°. Height comes from the leg extension rather than from spreading the legs wider or narrower.
- Pegasus Astro does not publish the box contents for this tripod. We have not listed accessories such as spikes, hex keys or a carry bag rather than assume they are included — ask us and we will open one and tell you exactly what is in it.
- Meridian clearance is worth a thought. With a long refractor or SCT on an NYX-88, the half-pier extension is the usual answer, and it is a cheap addition next to discovering the problem in the dark.
- 2000 g is under 5 lb, and our declared shipping weight rounds up to the next whole pound as carriers bill it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it difficult to set up?
No. The legs extend and lock, the mount bolts to the top, and the 35° angle is fixed so there is nothing to set. It is quicker than a steel tripod because there is less of it to handle.
Will it hold my imaging train?
The published maximum load capacity is 50 kg, which is far beyond an NYX-88's own 14 kg unweighted payload. The tripod is not the limiting factor.
Can I use it with an NYX-101?
Pegasus publishes this tripod for the NYX-88 and a matched tripod for the NYX-101. Tell us which mount you have and we will confirm the right pairing.
Is carbon fibre actually better than aluminium here?
For this job, yes on two counts: it is stiffer for its weight, and it damps vibration faster, so the settling time after a slew is shorter.
What about setting up on a patio or driveway?
The rubber footpads are the accessory for that — spikes need soil to work.
