Meticulous Mid-Range Machinery. Powerful. Compact. Precise.

Dual-axis belt drives deliver whisper-quiet, extremely accurate movement for both axes

All internal motor cables prevent snagging and make remote observing more reliable

Wi-Fi provides untethered control of mount functions and access to all of the SynScan Pro app features

Sky-Watcher SynScan mounts have been designed for use by novices and experts alike. These mounts provide extremely high precision tracking and have built in autoguider ports. This heavy-duty HEQ5-R Pro mount is a smaller version of the sturdy EQ6-R Pro mount. It is specially designed for observers who need the steadiness of the EQ6-R Pro mount but find it too physically demanding. But make no mistake, the HEQ5-R Pro can be that perfect mid-range rock solid platform you build your astroimaging rig on.

42,000+ Object Database

For novice users, the user-friendly menu allows automatic slewing to 42,900+ objects. Even an inexperienced astronomer can master its variety of features in a few observing sessions. The hand controller can be connected to a PC using the built-in USB-B port and a USB-B cable (not included). PC control can be done with SynScan Pro for Windows app or your favorite third-party software with the correct drivers.

Flexible Polar Alignment

Sky-Watcher includes an illuminated polar finderscope to aid the alignment process. The finderscope features a circular grid reticle for the Northern Hemisphere, consistent with today’s popular polar alignment apps. For astronomers in the Southern Hemisphere, the constellation Octans is built into the reticle as well. Even without a clear view of Polaris, the HEQ5-R Pro can be polar aligned using our SynScan hand controller. Simply choose one of the visible stars listed and use the latitude adjustment screws to center it in the eyepiece.

Bundle of Accessories

As is customary with all Sky-Watcher products, an assortment of accessories are included with the HEQ5-R Pro mount. A retractable counterweight bar is supplied, allowing for easier transportation. Two 11-pound counterweights are also included to help balance up to a 30-pound payload. The HEQ5-R Pro features a saddle compatible with both D- and V-style mounting plates, allowing users the flexibility to utilize multiple optical tubes, even if the mounting plate is different.

66-Pounds Fully Assembled

The HEQ5-R’s light weight – along with its 33-pound payload capacity – makes it the ideal travelling companion for any astronomer.

Perfect For All Applications

Precision tracking, no external motor cables, all-metal bearings and belt drive means the HEQ5-R is the perfect platform for the beginning to the advanced astronomer, visual or astrophotographic.

SynScan Computerized Hand Controller

With an internal database of over 42,000 astronomical objects, the SynScan controller provides hours of effortless navigation of the universe.
