The JMI Tow Handle adds a front pull bar to a caster-equipped Universal Wheeley Bar, so you can pull your loaded rig from the front instead of pushing it from behind — steadier and easier over distance, especially with a heavy imaging setup. Made in the USA by JMI (CXB Astro family).

Product Overview

This tow handle attaches to the steering axle at the front of a Universal-style Wheeley Bar equipped with 5″ caster wheels. Pulling from the front keeps the load ahead of you and makes tracking straight far easier than pushing a tall, top-heavy rig from the rear.

Who It's For

Owners of caster-wheel (2-3/8″ or 5″) Universal Wheeley Bars — Medium or Large — who move their rig any real distance from storage to the observing spot. If you run the 10″ pneumatic upgrade, you already have a tow handle and don't need this.

Key Features & Design

  • Front pull bar: Attaches to the steering axle for controlled pulling instead of pushing.
  • Sized to your bar: Two versions matched to your leveling-screw diameter.
  • Steel construction: USA-made by JMI to match the Wheeley Bar itself.

Compatibility and Accessory Notes

For caster-equipped Universal Wheeley Bars (Medium and Large). Select by your leveling-screw diameter:

  • 5/8″ version (TPWHANDLE-5/8-5W): Current HD Medium and HD Large bars.
  • 1/2″ version (TPWHANDLE-1/2-5W): Standard Medium and older HD models.

Important Limitations

  • Wheeley Bars with the 10″ pneumatic tire upgrade already include a tow handle — this accessory is for caster-wheel models only.
  • Order the version that matches your leveling-screw size — the bracket alignment differs between 5/8″ and 1/2″.
  • Not for Triangle-Style or Sky Trekker Dobsonian bases.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need this if I have the 10″ pneumatic wheels?
No — the 10″ pneumatic wheel upgrade already includes a tow handle. This is the standalone handle for caster-wheel bars.

Which version do I order?
Match your leveling-screw diameter: 5/8″ for current HD Medium/Large bars, 1/2″ for Standard Medium and older HD models. Pull one screw and measure if unsure.

Why pull instead of push?
Pulling from the front keeps a tall, top-heavy rig ahead of you and tracks straighter than pushing from behind — with less risk of the load getting away from you on a slope.

Bottom Line

A USA-made front pull bar for caster-wheel Universal Wheeley Bars that makes moving a loaded rig easier and steadier. Match the version to your leveling-screw size — and skip it if you already run the 10″ pneumatic upgrade, which includes one.
