About the iOptron RC8

The Ritchey-Chrétien design is the choice of professional observatories for a reason: it delivers images free of coma, spherical and chromatic aberration, making it ideal for both colour and monochrome imaging. The RC8 uses low-thermal-expansion quartz primary and secondary mirrors, so focus holds steady as the night cools, and its fixed primary mirror eliminates the image shift you get when focusing many other reflector designs. A steel tube with multiple knife-edge baffles suppresses stray light for better contrast.

With 1624mm of focal length at f/8, the RC8 is a superb small-galaxy, planetary nebula and globular cluster imager — and the top and bottom dovetails make it easy to mount and to piggyback guiding gear. See our new RC8 listing for full specifications.
