Askar SQA55 Quick-Release Handle Bar

The Askar SQA55 Quick-Release Handle Bar is a dedicated carrying handle designed exclusively for the SQA55 astrograph. It mounts tool-free to any of the four quick-release bases on the SQA55 tube body and provides a secure, comfortable grip for transporting the telescope between setups.

The handle is constructed entirely from CNC-machined metal and measures 110mm in overall length. The top surface includes a standard finder scope base slot, making it dual-purpose as both a carry handle and an accessory mounting platform. Installation and removal are tool-free using the SQA55's quick-release system.

Who Is This Product Best For?

  • SQA55 owners who want a dedicated handle for safely carrying or repositioning the telescope.
  • Travel and star party users who frequently move the SQA55 between mount and case.
  • Astrophotographers who want a finder scope or guide scope mounting point on top of the OTA.

Why Choose the Askar SQA55 Quick-Release Handle Bar?

  • Tool-free quick-release installation — clips into any of the four quick-release bases on the SQA55 without tools.
  • All-metal construction — 110mm CNC-machined body, durable and light.
  • Built-in finder scope base slot — mounts a finder, guide scope, or accessory directly on top of the handle.
  • Four mounting positions available — the SQA55 tube has four quick-release bases, allowing the handle to be positioned where it is most convenient.

Recommended Uses

  • Carrying and repositioning the SQA55 at the telescope, mount, or carrying case
  • Mounting a finder scope or guide scope on top of the SQA55 OTA
  • Accessory mounting on the SQA55 tube body

Compatibility and Accessory Notes

Compatible telescope: Askar SQA55 only. The SQA55 Quick-Release Handle Bar uses the SQA55's proprietary quick-release base system and is not compatible with the SQA70, SQA85, SQA106, or SQA130 — those models use the standard SQA Series Handle Bar instead.

Finder base: Standard finder scope base on the top of the handle; accepts most standard dovetail-mount finder scopes and red dot finders.

Important Limitations

  • SQA55 only — not compatible with any other SQA Series telescope.
  • Not a dovetail plate — this is a carry handle and accessory mount, not a mount saddle adapter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it fit the SQA70 or other SQA models?
No. This handle is specific to the SQA55's quick-release base system. For SQA70 and larger models, use the SQA Series Handle Bar (sold separately).

Can I mount a guide scope on it?
Yes. The standard finder base slot on top accepts most finder scopes and small guide scopes.

Our Recommendation

At Ontario Telescope and Accessories, we recommend the SQA55 Quick-Release Handle Bar as an essential companion for any SQA55 owner. At under $100, it adds meaningful convenience and a useful finder/guide scope mounting point to a telescope that gets moved around frequently.
