Askar SQA55 AF Kit — Electronic Focuser Adapter for the SQA55

The Askar SQA55 AF Kit is a precision-engineered electronic auto-focus adapter kit designed exclusively for the Askar SQA55 astrograph. It enables motorized focusing by connecting virtually any brand of electronic focuser (EAF) to the SQA55’s manual focus ring via a belt-and-pulley drive system. The kit includes four MXL synchronous belts of different lengths, two MXL synchronous pulleys, an adapter bracket, two L-shaped hollow plates, and all required hardware.

Unlike most generic EAF installation methods, the SQA55 AF Kit is designed specifically to solve three common problems: adapters that are too long and block rear accessory ports, belt backlash from poorly tensioned drives, and cumbersome installation steps. The included tensioner pulley eliminates belt backlash, the custom-length adapter plate preserves rear port access, and the entire assembly can be installed or removed as a single unit. The L-shaped hollow plates use a slotted design to accommodate different EAF hole spacings, including larger-format focusers like those from Pegasus Astro.

The current version of the kit includes additional timing belts and pulleys pre-configured for ZWO EAF Pro and Touptek electronic focusers, in addition to supporting most other brands.
