It is a great little gadget for beginners
This is my first smart telescope, and I was able to capture a decent image of M81 on the day I received it. The only area for improvement is the software: I can’t denoise or stack the raw images unless I’m connected to the Seestar. It would be great if ZWO could add an offline processing feature.

SeeStar S30
This is my first smart telescope. Right off the bat I have to say that I am very impressed with how easy it is to use. The app is intuitive and simple, but it feels like it needs more features. This is a set and forget system that takes many images over an extended period of time and then stitches them together in the app itself. I live right beside an airport so I haven’t used it in a truly dark sky environment yet but that will change in the next couple of weeks. Image quality is good for a 2MP sensor. This is my biggest gripe though. I’m used to shooting at 50 to 100 MP so I’ve had to temper my expectations. For an entry-level smart device I really like it and am looking forward to creating more images throughout this summer.

Seestar S30
Just took delivery of the S30 last week and so far the weather has been very uncooperative. I did manage to squeeze in about 30 minutes of imaging during a break in the completely overcast Toronto sky and I was amazed with the result. Set up was a breeze. After calibrating the scope compass indoors, I mounted it on a photo tripod so that I could get above the wall of my balcony. The interface is very easy to navigate and in no time I was imaging M42 which was the easiest target to achieve from my location near the south end of the Humber river. There was no moon but sky was slightly overcast and I have a streetlight near our balcony so I didn't have high expectations, but, after 5 minutes I had achieved a surprisingly decent image which got even better after I applied the built in AI clean up algorithm. Before the clouds rolled in I also spent 14 minutes imaging the Horse head Nebula with similar results. Being new to smart scopes and astrophotography, the capabilities and ease of use of the reasonably priced S30 was amazing. I am seriously jonesing for the next clear night so that I can get out and really put this thing to use. Oh, and also, I love how compact the S30 is. It would be so easy to take it, in its case along with the included mini tripod on a flight in my carry-on backpack on holiday. This is going to be fun.

Pas encore eu la chance de l’essayer à cause de la température et des nuages . Il est quand même bien, léger . Plus a suivre bientôt.
