Product Overview

The S version of Takahashi's 0.85x Multi-Reducer, matched to the FS-60 series: the FS-60CB, FS-60CBX, FS-60CP, FS-60Q and FS-60C. Behind those tubes it gives 300 mm at f/5.0 with a Ø44 mm image circle — full-frame coverage from a 60 mm refractor.

The Multi-Reducer comes in three versions, and the letter is not a size preference — it identifies which telescope family the reducer is computed for. S is the FS-60 series; M is the FCT-65D and FC-50; L is the FC-76 and FC-60/65 series.

A 0.85x reduction takes 15% off the focal length and speeds the focal ratio to match — a modest change compared with a 0.6x or 0.7x reducer, and one that keeps the image scale usable rather than collapsing it. The four-element, three-group design is what holds the Ø44 mm circle: it is correcting field curvature across a full-frame sensor at the same time as reducing, which a simpler two-element design would not manage at this speed.

Wide-field deep-sky imaging on an FS-60: large nebulae, star fields, and framing that benefits from the extra field and the shorter exposures.

Compatibility and Accessory Notes

Takahashi computes this version for the FS-60CB, FS-60CBX, FS-60CP, FS-60Q and FS-60C. The threads are M55.9 (P=0.75) on the telescope side and M52 (P=0.75) on the camera side. If your telescope is not an FS-60, one of the other two versions is the one you want — the M covers the FCT-65D and FC-50, the L covers the FC-76 series.
