Product Overview

The 232WS is a double-ring tube holder for the Takahashi Epsilon E-180ED, sized to a 232 mm tube diameter — the widest of the Epsilon holders. Two rings carry the tube across a span rather than clamping it at a single point, which matters on a tube of this diameter carrying a camera at prime focus.

Who It's For

This is a good match if you own an Epsilon E-180ED and need Takahashi's own holder to carry it on a Takahashi mount.

Key Features & Design

  • 232 mm bore: sized to the Epsilon E-180ED tube diameter.
  • Double-ring construction: two ring positions rather than one clamp point.
  • Largest of the Epsilon holders: the E-130D and E-160ED take narrower rings.

Recommended Uses

Mounting the Epsilon E-180ED to a Takahashi equatorial mount for fast f/2.8 wide-field deep-sky imaging.

Compatibility and Accessory Notes

Sized for the 232 mm tube diameter of the E-180ED. The other Epsilon tubes take their own holders — 166 mm for the E-130D and 204 mm for the E-160ED. Takahashi also lists more than one holder in the E-180 family; if you are unsure which your setup calls for, send us your mount details and we will confirm before you order.

Good to Know Before You Order

Sized to one tube diameter: the 232 mm bore fits the E-180ED and does not adjust to the narrower Epsilon models.

More than one E-180 holder exists: Takahashi's naming in this family is close enough that a quick confirmation is worth the message. We are happy to check it against your tube.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it difficult to set up?

No — the rings open to seat the tube and close around it, and the assembly bolts to the mount.

What tube diameter does it fit?

232 mm — the Epsilon E-180ED.

Will it fit my E-130D or E-160ED?

No — those take the 166 mm and 204 mm holders. We stock those as well.

Bottom Line

A 232 mm double-ring holder for the Epsilon E-180ED — Takahashi's own two-point mounting for their fastest astrograph.
