SVBONY SV219 Vixen-style dovetail plate structure and parameters

Product Overview

The SVBONY SV219 is a Vixen-standard dovetail plate in black-anodized aluminium for attaching a telescope, guide scope or spotting scope to a Vixen-style saddle on an equatorial or alt-az mount, or to a tripod head. This listing is the 120 mm (4.72″) length. The plate carries 1/4″ accessory threads and is supplied with two M6 screws and an M5 Allen wrench.

Who It's For

This is a good match if you need to replace or add a Vixen-style plate on a small telescope, guide scope or spotting scope, or want to put a camera-threaded instrument onto a Vixen saddle.

Key Features & Design

  • Vixen-standard width: fits Vixen-style saddles on most small and mid-size mounts.
  • Aluminium construction: light, with a black-anodized, corrosion-resistant finish.
  • Dual-rail layout: SVBONY's design allows fine fore-and-aft positioning for balance.
  • 1/4″ accessory threads: for instruments with a standard tripod socket.
  • Tool-free swap at the mount: once fitted to the instrument, the plate drops into and out of the saddle by its clamp.

Recommended Uses

  • Mounting small telescopes and guide scopes on a Vixen saddle.
  • Putting spotting scopes or camera-threaded optics onto an astronomy mount or tripod head.
  • Replacing a worn or missing dovetail on an existing optical tube.

Compatibility and Accessory Notes

  • Saddle: Vixen-style (narrow) dovetail saddles. Losmandy-style wide saddles need a wider plate.
  • Instrument side: two M6 screws are supplied for rings or tube bases; 1/4″ threads accept tripod-socket instruments.
  • Lengths: SVBONY also makes the SV219 in 210 mm and 300 mm. Contact us if you need one of those lengths.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it difficult to set up?

No. The plate bolts to your rings or tube base with the two supplied M6 screws using the included M5 Allen wrench, then slides into the mount's Vixen saddle.

Will it fit my mount?

It fits any Vixen-style saddle. Wide Losmandy-style saddles need a D-style plate.

Can I mount a spotting scope or camera on it?

Yes. The 1/4″ threads accept instruments with a standard tripod socket.

Bottom Line

In short: a 120 mm black-anodized aluminium Vixen-style dovetail plate with M6 and 1/4″ mounting that puts a small telescope, guide scope or spotting scope onto any Vixen saddle.
