SVBONY SV181 Newtonian focuser key visual

Product Overview

The SVBONY SV181 is a 1.25″ rack and pinion focuser for Newtonian reflector telescopes from 114 mm to 150 mm aperture. It has a 105 mm focuser tube with 65 mm of travel, geared focusing for fine adjustment, and a 1.25″ eyepiece adapter with an internal brass ring so the set screw does not mark eyepiece barrels. The interior is fully threaded to minimise reflections, and the body is metal.

Who It's For

This is a good match if you have a 114 mm to 150 mm Newtonian with a worn, damaged or rough 1.25″ focuser and want a metal rack and pinion replacement.

Key Features & Design

  • Rack and pinion: geared focusing with fine adjustment.
  • 65 mm travel on a 105 mm focuser tube.
  • 1.25″ eyepiece adapter with brass ring: the set screw presses on the ring, not the eyepiece barrel.
  • Fully threaded interior: reduces internal reflections.
  • Metal construction: CNC-machined aluminium for a secure fit.

Compatibility and Accessory Notes

  • Designed for: 114 mm to 150 mm Newtonian reflectors.
  • Eyepieces: 1.25″.
  • Fitting: mounting-hole pattern and tube curvature vary between telescope makers, so it is worth confirming the fit. Send us your telescope model and we will check it with you.

Good to Know Before You Order

  • 1.25″ only: it does not take 2″ eyepieces.
  • Replacement part: fitting it means removing the existing focuser from the tube.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it difficult to set up?

It is a straightforward swap: remove the old focuser's screws, fit the SV181 in its place, and re-collimate if the secondary mirror needs it afterwards. We are happy to talk you through it.

Will it fit my reflector?

SVBONY designs it for 114 mm to 150 mm Newtonians. Send us your telescope model and we will confirm.

Can I use it for imaging?

It is a 1.25″ visual focuser; with 65 mm of travel it suits eyepieces and light 1.25″ cameras.

Bottom Line

In short: a metal 1.25″ rack and pinion focuser with 65 mm of travel and a brass-ring eyepiece holder, built as a replacement for 114–150 mm Newtonian reflectors.
