SVBONY SV152 20mm illuminated crosshair eyepiece key visual

Product Overview

The SVBONY SV152 is a 1.25″, 20 mm eyepiece with a 70° apparent field and an illuminated single crosshair reticle. A clip-on LED illuminator lights the crosshair red, with adjustable brightness, so you can centre a star precisely without losing night vision. The optical design is 5 elements in 4 groups, fully multi-coated, with 16 mm eye relief and a 25 mm field stop. It runs on two 1.5 V button cells and weighs 221 g.

Who It's For

This is a good match if you need a reticle eyepiece for centring stars during mount alignment, manual guiding, aligning a finder or guide scope with your main telescope, or checking that a target sits dead-centre before handing over to a camera.

Key Features & Design

  • Illuminated single crosshair: red LED with adjustable brightness to suit faint or bright stars.
  • 20 mm, 70° field: a wide view that makes it easy to find a star before centring it.
  • 16 mm eye relief: comfortable viewing with a rubber eyecup.
  • Fully multi-coated, blackened lens edges: good light transmission on faint stars and reduced internal reflections.
  • Two-step anodised aluminium body: matte finish that resists glare.

Optical Design

The SV152 uses a 5-element, 4-group design with full multi-coating and blackened edges. The 25 mm field stop with a 20 mm focal length gives a true field that is generous for a reticle eyepiece, and the crosshair sits at the focal plane so it stays sharp as you focus on the star. The bottom of the barrel carries a standard M28.5 x 0.6 filter thread.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it difficult to set up?

No. Fit the illuminator, insert the eyepiece in the focuser, focus on a star and turn up the LED until the crosshair is just visible.

Can I use it for general observing?

Yes. With the LED off it is a 20 mm, 70° eyepiece, though the crosshair remains in the view.

Is the brightness adjustable?

Yes. The LED brightness is adjustable so the crosshair can be set dim for faint stars.

Bottom Line
