About the Stellarvue SV102-Access

The Access line was Stellarvue's answer to a real problem: how to get genuine Stellarvue optical quality into the hands of people who weren't ready to spend premium-series money. The SV102-Access is a 102mm f/7 apochromat — 714mm focal length — built around a combination of FPL-53 and lanthanum glass, the same expensive ED glass Stellarvue uses in its higher-end tubes. The result is a fast, sharp, genuinely colour-free 4" refractor that punches well above what its original price suggested.

The details are what you'd expect from Stellarvue and rarely find at this level: a 2.5" dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser with 10:1 fine focus and enough travel and load capacity for a camera train, a retractable dew shield, hinged aluminium mounting rings and a Vixen-style rail. It's light enough for a modest mount and short enough to be a real travel scope, while f/7 at 102mm is one of the most useful all-round combinations there is — wide enough for large nebulae and clusters, long enough for lunar and planetary work.

The Access series is discontinued — Stellarvue's current catalogue is the Premier SVX line, which starts considerably higher. That makes a clean, cased example like this one genuinely hard to replace, and it's the main reason these hold their value on the used market.
