About the ZWO Seestar S30 Pro

The S30 Pro is ZWO's refinement of the smart-telescope idea: telescope, autofocuser, cameras, alt-az mount, filters and controller all built into one 1.65 kg body you set on a tripod, level, and drive from your phone. The optics are a 4-element apochromatic design with ED glass, and it runs a dual-lens system — a 4K wide-angle camera alongside the telephoto, so you can shoot Milky Way panoramas and star trails as easily as deep-sky targets. The telephoto sensor is a 1/1.2" chip with roughly four times the area of the original S30's, which is the single biggest reason to want the Pro over the model it replaced.

Three filters are built in — dark field, UV/IR cut, and a light pollution filter tuned for OIII and Hα — so you can pull nebulosity out of suburban skies without buying anything extra. Active anti-dew control keeps the corrector clear through a long session, and equatorial mode is supported with the right accessories for longer sub-exposures. It's also more open than most smart scopes: ASCOM Alpaca support means it will talk to NINA and other third-party software when you outgrow the app.
